Encaustic Paintings, Printmaking, Photography
Artist Reception
Sunday March 10, 3 – 6 pm
Artist Statement Excerpt:
While painting in hot encaustic wax, my esthetic concerns shifted to unusual shapes, shadows, repetition and abstraction. I could gouge into the wax, revealing colors underneath. I used the heat gun to explore movement, or create turbulent waves of color.
As a photographer, I could both document what I saw, whether inspired nature, urban landscapes, ethnic people and their surroundings in different countries. Or I could follow shifting light, shadows and abstraction in the strangest places.
