The Secret between the Trees brings together the work of Ekaterina Popova and Phyllis Gorsen in a quiet, lyrical exploration of nature’s hidden realms. From human interaction with wildlife to the life thriving unseen, the works evoke a world often left undiscovered. The exhibition embraces both real and imagined encounters, capturing the quiet enchantment of nature’s untold stories. Together, these works invite viewers to step into the space between where stories linger, where nature whispers, and where the secret between the trees might finally be heard.
Ekaterina Popova’s oil paintings are rooted in her deep connection to native plants and landscapes. Through nature studies, plein air works, and studio pieces, she reflects her daily encounters with the natural world. Using light, texture, and atmosphere, her paintings explore the relationship between spirit, nature, and the mysteries that surround us.
Phyllis Gorsen’s collage paintings are created with layers of painted paper, paint, charcoal, canvas and hand-made papers from around the world. Starting with painted renderings, either invented or from photographs, they convey emotional experiences rooted in nature with the multi-dimensional surfaces filled with uncertainty and surprise.
